Hitchpostby Firmkit

Everything Hitchpost does

From the booking to the drawer count, grouped by where the work happens.

At the gate

A web app on any tablet, laptop or phone. It keeps working when the connection does not.

Offline first

Each device saves every rental on itself, then syncs with the office as soon as it can. Two tablets never overwrite each other.

Fast checkout

Pick the unit, the customer and the length. Prices come from your price list, so nobody types an amount.

Pre-registered customers

A customer who filled in the form on their phone arrives with a code. Type it and the rental is ready.

Collateral

Record the license, keys or cash you hold, and the box it went into. Each item is tied to the rental it covers.

Photos at both ends

Take a photo when the unit goes out and when it comes back. Each photo is saved with the rental.

Returns at any gate

A unit rented at one gate can come back at another. Swaps and late fees are handled at the gate.

Money

Cash, cards and deposits, all on the same record as the rental they belong to.

Card payments on a reader

The tablet sends the amount to a Square Terminal or a Stripe reader. The customer taps there.

Deposit holds

Hold a deposit on the card without charging it. The server lets it go when the unit comes back in good order.

No double charges

If the signal drops in the middle of a payment, trying again checks the first charge before taking a second one.

Cash drawers

Open and close a drawer for each shift. At close, Hitchpost shows the expected cash and the difference.

Late fees

Due times follow your rules, such as 30 minutes before the event closes. The late fee is worked out for you.

Mismatches flagged

A charge with no rental, or a rental recorded at a different amount from the card, goes on the morning briefing.

Your fleet

Know what you have, where it is, and what is ready to rent.

Inventory

Every unit from purchase to retirement, with its status at every step.

Repairs

A unit in the shop cannot be rented. If an offline tablet rents one anyway, it is flagged and goes back on hold.

GPS map

Works with trackers that report to Traccar or the OsmAnd app. See every rented unit on a map of the event.

Area alerts

Draw the event area. A unit that stays outside it for several readings in a row sends an alert.

Quiet trackers

A tracker that stops reporting is flagged, so a dead battery is found before the unit goes missing.

Short memory

A unit's route is saved only while it is rented, and deleted after 30 days.

Customer checks

Faster checkout, and fewer rentals to people who should not have one.

License scanning

Reads the barcode on the back of a US or Canadian license with a handheld scanner or the tablet camera.

Expiry and age

An expired license or an underage renter is stopped. A manager can override it, and the override is recorded.

Keep only what you need

By default Hitchpost stores the result of the check, not the license details. You can keep the last four digits if you choose.

State rules

Turn scanning off for states that limit it. New Hampshire licenses are not scanned by default.

The office

A console for owners and managers, separate from the gate.

Live board

Every unit and every gate, updating as rentals happen.

Morning briefing

Overdue units, open holds, repairs and flags in one short list.

Bookings

Online bookings land in the gate app. A booking used twice is flagged.

Reports and exports

Daily totals by gate and payment type. Export your records whenever you want them.

Staff and roles

Owners, managers and staff each see what their job needs. Managers approve voids and overrides with their PIN.

Connections

Send customers to your CRM, post alerts to Slack or Discord, or push records anywhere with a webhook.

AI

Optional, and off until you turn it on.

Works with your assistant

Connect Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor or your own app through MCP or a plain web API.

Ask in the console

Owners can ask questions about the day from the office console, using their own Anthropic account.

Keys with limits

Each AI key has its own permissions and an end date, and it never gets more access than the person who made it.

Changes need a person

A change suggested by an AI is held until a manager approves it.
